Faculty of Science

Welcome to the Faculty of Science

With over 1,100 students across our science programmes, our Faculty of Science is one of the largest science schools outside Dublin and the central hub for innovation at the college. To cater for our unique degrees and growing student interest our science facility was completely revamped in 2014, introducing student-anchored facilities and brand-new equipment to help students get the most out of your science-led degree. We offer varying levels of programmes, including our Level 6 science (general entry) diploma. This programme will give you a taster of the modules across our departments in our level 7’s and 8’s, allowing students to transfer into the second year of their chosen programme.

91% of our graduates are employed or in further study four months after graduation

We keep in touch with employers in the North West to make sure our teaching methods are constantly to industry standard. We have an excellent reputation in producing skilled employees across all science sectors, meaning our students are in high demand.

Work placements provide a vital introduction into the industry

We offer students a chance to secure work placement, with the majority of level 8 students leaving with a placement. Our graduation survey showed that 87% of our graduates thought this gave them a distinct advantage in gaining full-time employment.

First college to be accredited with the Chartered Use of Forensic Sciences

All our programmes are accredited by various bodies such as Science Foundation Ireland meaning students are getting the best, industry-led education.

We have a 1 to 16 teaching practical ratio

We keep our class numbers to a minimum –This ensures students have the opportunity to engage with their lecturer and fellow classmates and are supported throughout their learning.

Life-long learners no matter what level

Our students have the option of taking up further or parallel study options with our online learning options.

 Our lecturers are subject experts

Many of our lecturers are educated to doctorate level and have years of experience within industry.

The faculty is made up of 3 departments:
