Clara Taylor International (USA) Student (May 2020)

“I have always been interested in Irish history since my grandmother told me about her mothers’ memories of Ireland. When I was 14 I had an opportunity to do an Ambassadorship to the UK for the summer before I started high school. When I got back to the states I swore to myself that I would go back and take at least one class in Europe.

My name is Clara Taylor and I go to school at the University of Arizona in the United States of American. I am getting a degree in BS in Anthropology with an emphasis in Archaeology and a minor in Library Sciences. The Irish Archaeology program has given a good starting point to learn more about the history of Ireland. I wanted to be a part of the Archaeology program in particular because there is so much that can be learned from what a group of people leaves behind. This program covers a lot of time in a very short period but this allows a student to find what part of the archaeological record they enjoy learning the most and gives them a starting point to go forward with their own studies. This is at least what the Archaeology Program has done from me. I now have a starting point for the time that interests me the most that I can now work towards in the rest of my academic career. I look forward to the study tour so that I can finally see the places that I have been learning about all term and experience for myself the beauty and wonder that I see in the photos of my textbook and lectures”.
